Sodium R-Lipoate – Active form of alpha-lipoic acid
Alpha-lipoic acid, in the form of sodium R-lipoate, is a complex enzymatic compound produced by the body from a sulphur-containing amino acid: cysteine. It can act in both aqueous and lipid environments. ALA easily crosses cell membranes and works in synergy with other compounds such as glutathione, CoQ10 and vitamin E.
